I’ve mentioned the new watch I’ve been waiting for in a couple of posts, well, I finally got my watch today.  The watch band is steel mesh which I liked and came in four colors: orange, black, blue, and green.  I originally was torn between the orange and the green.  Both are two of my favorite second tier colors.  I finally decided that I needed the orange but when I checked my bank account I was a bit short.  I had the money in my wallet for once (I don’t usually carry cash on me) but that wasn’t going to do me any good.  Oh the presentation for the watch was on at about two in the morning so making a quick run to deposit some cash into my account was pretty much a no go.  The orange was the most popular color and was expected to sell out by the next showing.  Before the show was over orange was sold out so my 2nd color choice of green was decided for me.

The box it was shipped in was easily one of the most difficult boxes I’ve ever attempted to open.  I wasn’t quite sure of how the inside packaging was configured so instead of risking scratching something up by mistake I ended up ripping the box open.  That was an ordeal in and of itself I might add.  Anyway, I’m getting old.  After ripping open the shipping box it took me longer than it should’ve to figure out that the watch box was inside of a plastic sleeve.  I thought it was a box and kept flipping it over like that old “how do you keep a fool in suspense” joke looking for a seam, flap, or something to open.  I finally turned it to the side and notice there was an “orange-ish” box that slides out of the sleeve.  Duh!  Originally, the watch had what appeared to be shrink wrapped plastic on the watch bands.  Those were a straight bitch to get off!

The watch dial was a bit smaller than I thought it would be.  It’s not a small watch.  In fact it’s probably one of the larger pieces I’ve had.   It’s about 44 millimeters wide which isn’t bad considering the fact that my wrists are on the thicker side.  I think my next piece will be a bit wider though.  Yeah, I’m pretty sure I’m now collecting these.  Anyone want to buy me a collector’s case?  I’ll be your best friend.  There’s an interchangeable leather strap that I can buy for it when I want to switch up the look but I got cheap after getting the watch.  Next month is probably going to be a broke month so it’ll just have to wait.  Anyway, you probably can’t tell too well from the pictures but you can see the gears and stuff and the back of the watch is completely see through.  Me likey!  It’s the first automatic watch I’ve bought.  I have one that my grandfather owned but have yet to get repaired yet.
